Job Description: What You’ll Do
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
UAS / Drones
Location: California, Hybrid
Airbotics Talent are supporting a pioneering UAS company in their search for an experienced, growth-minded, and strategic COO. Our client designs and develops cutting-edge Drone software and hardware with a range of commercial applications globally.
They require a dynamic and experienced operator to drive growth, operational excellence, and commercial success on an international scale.
The Role
As COO, you will take ownership of global day-to-day operations, driving the execution of the company’s growth strategy and ensuring operational alignment across all functions. You’ll oversee Engineering, Software, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and HR, supporting the CEO and Board in scaling the business efficiently and effectively.
You will be instrumental in building robust systems, processes, and teams to support the transition from scale-up to a high-growth, globally recognized leader in UAS solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operational Leadership: Lead global operational functions, ensuring performance, efficiency, and alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
* Execution of Growth Strategy: Partner with the CEO and executive team to translate strategic plans into actionable operational goals and outcomes.
* Commercial Growth & Market Expansion: Collaborate closely with Sales and Business Development to support market growth in North America and international regions.
* Technology & Product Enablement: Work with Engineering & Software to ensure operational readiness and successful product delivery at scale.
* Team Building & Culture: Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across core functions, embedding a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
* Operational Scaling: Design and implement scalable infrastructure, systems, and processes to enable sustained high-growth operations.
* Cross-Functional Coordination: Align departments to drive collaboration, innovation, and operational cohesion across the business.
The Person
The ideal candidate will have:
* A strong Drone or UAS background, with deep technical and operational understanding.
* Proven experience scaling international companies through the startup-to-scaleup phase and beyond.
* Executive leadership experience as a COO, or a VP of Operations/Engineering ready to step into a broader leadership role.
* A track record of operationalizing commercial and technical strategies in B2B settings.
* Experience overseeing cross-functional global teams with full accountability for execution and performance.
* A data-driven, structured approach to decision-making and performance improvement.
* Experience working closely with CEOs and Boards, with an ability to translate strategic goals into operational execution.
