Below are the open positions across East Africa. Each role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the fight against poverty while working in a collaborative, supportive, and innovative environment.
1. Director of Global Policy, Strategy, & Advocacy – Hybrid – Nairobi, Kenya
As the Director of Global Policy, Strategy, & Advocacy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Village Enterprise’s strategic vision, leading advocacy efforts, and influencing global development policies that support poverty alleviation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of policy and advocacy strategies aligned with Village Enterprise’s mission.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders, government entities, and nonprofit partners to drive systemic change.
- Oversee strategic initiatives that promote sustainable business creation and poverty reduction.
2. Finance and Administration Manager – Kenya
The Finance and Administration Manager will oversee financial operations in Kenya, ensuring compliance, financial health, and operational efficiency in all Village Enterprise projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting processes.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and international financial standards.
- Oversee the administration of grants, contracts, and partnerships.
3. People and Culture Associate – Kenya
As a People and Culture Associate, you will support human resources efforts in Kenya, helping to foster a positive work environment and ensuring that Village Enterprise attracts, retains, and develops top talent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations.
- Promote Village Enterprise’s culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR best practices.
4. People and Culture Coordinator – Ethiopia
The People and Culture Coordinator will be responsible for supporting HR initiatives in Ethiopia, playing a key role in managing talent and ensuring employee satisfaction across the country.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead recruitment efforts and manage employee performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement HR strategies that promote a healthy work-life balance.
- Ensure that policies align with Village Enterprise’s mission and values.
5. Procurement and Administration Coordinator – Kitale, Kenya
The Procurement and Administration Coordinator will manage procurement and administrative functions, ensuring that Village Enterprise’s operational needs are met efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the procurement of goods and services in line with Village Enterprise’s policies.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure that all contracts meet regulatory standards.
- Support the administration of logistical operations.
6. Risk & Compliance Officer – East Africa
The Risk & Compliance Officer will ensure that Village Enterprise adheres to international standards and best practices, minimizing risks and ensuring organizational integrity across East Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks.
- Ensure compliance with local laws and international regulations.
- Promote a culture of transparency and accountability within the organization.
7. Senior Director of Climate Change Initiatives – Based in Uganda, Kenya, or Rwanda
The Senior Director of Climate Change Initiatives will lead the organization’s response to climate change challenges by integrating sustainability into all Village Enterprise’s programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to address the impacts of climate change on rural communities.
- Collaborate with global partners to design programs that promote sustainable business models.
- Monitor and report on environmental impact and climate adaptation initiatives.
8. Senior Director of Innovation and Program Design – Based in East Africa
As the Senior Director of Innovation and Program Design, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of innovative programs aimed at reducing extreme poverty.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of innovative programs.
- Collaborate with teams across East Africa to develop new ideas that foster sustainability and poverty alleviation.
- Stay abreast of global trends in poverty reduction and integrate them into Village Enterprise’s initiatives.
9. Senior Director of Systems Architecture – Hybrid – Nairobi, Kenya
The Senior Director of Systems Architecture will be responsible for designing and overseeing Village Enterprise’s data management systems, ensuring that they are robust, scalable, and aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and manage the implementation of system architectures that support data collection and analysis.
- Ensure that information systems are secure and scalable across different countries.
- Collaborate with global IT teams to optimize system performance and functionality.
10. Technical Assistant Manager – Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
The Technical Assistant Manager will provide support to technical teams in Ethiopia, ensuring the smooth implementation of Village Enterprise’s programs and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the technical execution of programs, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with field teams to troubleshoot issues and improve program delivery.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and international standards.
11. Vice President of Programs – Based in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, or Ethiopia
The Vice President of Programs will lead Village Enterprise’s programmatic efforts across multiple countries, ensuring that the organization’s initiatives have a lasting impact on reducing extreme poverty.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of programmatic strategies.
- Ensure that all programs are aligned with Village Enterprise’s mission and strategic objectives.
- Oversee monitoring and evaluation efforts to measure the effectiveness of programs.
Opportunities for Field Work
In addition to the roles listed above, Village Enterprise regularly hires Business Mentors, Field Associates, Enumerators, and other positions directly from the communities we serve in rural Africa. These field-based positions play a crucial role in implementing our programs and creating sustainable businesses.
