Job Summary
Kicheche Camp Limited is seeking an experienced Assistant Camp Manager to join our team at our renowned camp in Narok, Kenya. This role is pivotal in maintaining the daily operations of the camp, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for all guests. The successful candidate will work closely with the Camp Manager in managing staff, logistics, and all camp operations while upholding our high standards of service, safety, and guest satisfaction.
As Assistant Camp Manager, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for delivering top-notch hospitality services. Your leadership will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations, addressing guest needs, and maintaining an atmosphere that reflects our ethos of balancing privacy with personalized hosting. Key Responsibilities
As the Assistant Camp Manager, your primary duties will include:
- Overseeing Food & Beverage standards: Ensure that high-quality food and beverages are consistently provided to guests, meeting their expectations and upholding the camp’s reputation for excellent dining experiences.
- Providing excellent guest experiences: Create a welcoming and friendly environment, ensuring that all guests feel valued. Meet guests upon arrival, maintain continuous engagement throughout their stay, and manage their specific requests to guarantee a memorable stay.
- Supporting the Camp Manager in daily operations: Assist in all aspects of camp management, including logistics, staffing, guest services, and camp activities, to ensure efficient day-to-day operations.
- Managing procurement and stock control: Oversee the camp’s procurement processes and ensure proper stock control. Work with the Camp Manager to maintain accurate inventories and ensure resources are available when needed.
- Enforcing safety protocols: Work closely with the Camp Manager to implement safety policies and procedures. Ensure that all hygiene standards are met, and safety practices are adhered to by staff and guests alike.
- Handling accounting procedures: Assist in managing the camp’s accounting functions, ensuring strict budget controls and adhering to financial procedures.
- Hosting guests: Welcome all visitors according to Kicheche Camp’s ethos, providing a balance between privacy and warm hospitality. Engage with guests to make their stay pleasant and enjoyable.
- Collaboration with team members: Foster a team-oriented environment where all staff members work together to provide the highest level of guest service and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in the role of Assistant Camp Manager, the following qualifications and skills are required:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Hotel Management, or a related field is essential for this role.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the hospitality industry, preferably within camps or resorts, is required. Experience in food & beverage management is highly valued.
- Food & Beverage Expertise: Strong knowledge of food quality standards and presentation, with an eye for detail that enhances the dining experience for guests.
- Leadership and Management: Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively, with a focus on guest satisfaction and staff engagement.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage guests and collaborate with colleagues in a professional, positive, and solution-oriented manner.
- Guest-Focused: A passion for creating exceptional guest experiences, with a strong focus on personalized service and attention to detail.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to address issues proactively and efficiently.
- Teamwork: A collaborative attitude, able to work seamlessly as part of a larger team to achieve the camp’s goals.
