Key Responsibilities
As an HR Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting day-to-day HR activities. Your tasks will include:
- Handling internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests, ensuring timely responses and efficient resolutions.
- Maintaining employee records in both digital and electronic formats for accurate and up-to-date information.
- Assisting with the recruitment process, which involves identifying potential candidates, conducting reference checks, and issuing employment contracts.
- Managing calendars for the HR management team to ensure smooth scheduling of meetings, interviews, and HR events.
- Overseeing the completion of compensation and benefits documentation, ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws.
- Supporting performance management procedures by assisting with evaluations, preparing related documentation, and helping managers with performance reviews.
- Scheduling and organizing HR-related meetings, interviews, and other events while keeping detailed agendas.
- Conducting orientations for new staff to familiarize them with company policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Compiling reports on general HR activity, including hiring statistics, employee retention, and workforce diversity.
- Managing termination paperwork and conducting exit interviews to gather insights on employee departures.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in a similar HR role.
- Knowledge of labor law and employment equity regulations, ensuring that all HR activities are compliant with legal requirements.
- Strong HR administration skills, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- Proficiency in people management and conflict resolution.
- Full understanding of HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and benefits administration.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and other relevant HR software.
- Superb organizational and time management skills to balance multiple tasks and priorities.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex HR issues.
- Attention to detail, ensuring all processes and documentation are accurate.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and adapt quickly to new tasks or changes in direction.
