Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanic, your primary duties will include:

1. Vehicle Service Maintenance:
   • Plan and schedule vehicle service and maintenance to ensure that the fleet is always in proper repair.
   • Maintain the preventative maintenance schedule for every vehicle in the fleet, performing routine oil changes, tire rotations, fluid changes, and battery inspections as outlined in the vehicle service checklist.
2. Repair Duties:
   • Responsible for the repair of any and all electro/mechanical breakdowns of vehicles, lawn mowers, generators, tractors, and other mechanical equipment.
   • Ensure all repairs comply with safety standards, policy codes, and regulations.
3. Record Keeping:
   • Maintain and update repair and maintenance (R&M) records, which include fuel balances and workshop stock.
4. Equipment & Tools Management:
   • Keep a clean vehicle store and inventory, controlling and storing all tools, pumps, machines, and equipment.
   • Report immediately when you cannot repair a vehicle in the camp and when outside intervention is needed.

Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, candidates should meet the following qualifications and skills:

1. Educational Background:
   • Diploma in Automotive Engineering or Motor Vehicle Mechanics.
2. Experience:
   • A minimum of two (2) years experience in a busy garage setting, focusing on motor vehicle repairs.
3. Mechanical Skills:
   • Excellent mechanical skills, including the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues.
4. Licenses and Certifications:
   • Valid driver’s license.
   • Basics of health and safety training specific to garage environments.
