Key Responsibilities
As a Mechanic, your primary duties will include:
- Vehicle Service Maintenance:
- Plan and schedule vehicle service and maintenance to ensure that the fleet is always in proper repair.
- Maintain the preventative maintenance schedule for every vehicle in the fleet, performing routine oil changes, tire rotations, fluid changes, and battery inspections as outlined in the vehicle service checklist.
- Repair Duties:
- Responsible for the repair of any and all electro/mechanical breakdowns of vehicles, lawn mowers, generators, tractors, and other mechanical equipment.
- Ensure all repairs comply with safety standards, policy codes, and regulations.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain and update repair and maintenance (R&M) records, which include fuel balances and workshop stock.
- Equipment & Tools Management:
- Keep a clean vehicle store and inventory, controlling and storing all tools, pumps, machines, and equipment.
- Report immediately when you cannot repair a vehicle in the camp and when outside intervention is needed.
Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, candidates should meet the following qualifications and skills:
- Educational Background:
- Diploma in Automotive Engineering or Motor Vehicle Mechanics.
- Experience:
- A minimum of two (2) years experience in a busy garage setting, focusing on motor vehicle repairs.
- Mechanical Skills:
- Excellent mechanical skills, including the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues.
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basics of health and safety training specific to garage environments.
