Key Responsibilities:
As an Underwriter at PACIS Insurance, your primary duties will involve a range of tasks related to risk evaluation, document issuance, compliance enforcement, and customer service. Below are the detailed responsibilities:
1. Underwriting Duties:
- Document Risk Assessments: Accurately document risks and ensure the timely issuance of certificates, policy documents, debits, and endorsements, strictly following company underwriting policies.
- Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to internal underwriting guidelines before processing debits, ensuring policies comply with established controls.
- Efficient Renewals: Manage the renewal process by preparing and issuing renewal notices within set turnaround times, contributing to the desired retention rate.
- Quote Issuance: Provide accurate and timely quotes to intermediaries, ensuring adherence to recommended underwriting guidelines.
- Client Account Reconciliation: Reconcile client accounts monthly to reflect accurate business booked status.
- Renewal Notices: Prepare and issue renewal notices 60 days before the renewal date.
- Credit Policy Adherence: Ensure debt forms are completed according to company credit policies when issuing credit.
- Cancellation Notices: Issue timely cancellation notices for non-payment of premiums.
- Claims Advisory: Offer advice to the claims department regarding excesses, deductibles, and applicable clauses during claims assessments.
- Policy Confirmation: Confirm cover details and approve quotations for up to 50% of the treaty limit.
- Valuation Appointments: Coordinate the appointment of property and vehicle valuers when necessary.
- Document Issuance: Issue motor business policy documents and renewal schedules.
- Endorsement Management: Monitor and manage the approval and dispatch of endorsements and renewal schedules.
- Risk Trend Analysis: Identify undesirable risk trends and recommend corrective actions to management.
2. Customer Service Duties:
- TAT and SLA Compliance: Ensure 100% compliance with Turnaround Time (TAT) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Client Queries: Address client queries promptly, ensuring correct quotations are issued within set timelines.
- Premium Collection: Follow up on premium collections, ensuring debits are processed within the month.
- Refund Processing: Prepare and follow up on premium refunds in cases of overpayments or cancellations.
- Client Visits: Conduct client visits alongside intermediaries, providing technical support and product presentations as needed.
Other Duties:
- Support additional underwriting and customer service tasks as assigned to enhance the overall efficiency of the underwriting department.
Qualifications and Skills:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and demonstrate the necessary skills:
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, or an Insurance-related field.
Professional Qualifications:
- Diploma in Insurance or substantial progress towards achieving a recognized professional insurance qualification.
Experience:
- At least two years of relevant experience in underwriting or a related field.
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of the insurance industry and underwriting principles.
