Core Duties and Responsibilities
As a Carer, you will work across various care settings, including home care, assisted living, and nursing homes. Your primary responsibility will be to enhance the well-being, dignity, and independence of clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care Assistance
- Help clients with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and hygiene routines.
- Companionship and Emotional Support
- Engage in meaningful conversations, encourage social activities, and build trust.
- Medication Administration
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for side effects or changes in condition.
- Housekeeping and Home Management
- Carry out light domestic duties such as laundry, cleaning, and meal preparation.
- Health Monitoring and Reporting
- Record observations, report any health or behavioral changes to healthcare professionals.
- Mobility and Transportation
- Assist clients with mobility needs and provide transport for appointments and outings (driving licence required).
- Specialist Dementia Care
- Use appropriate strategies and communication techniques to support clients living with dementia.
Required Skills and Attributes
To excel in this role, you must have a warm, empathetic nature and the ability to work independently while being part of a larger care team.
Essential Requirements:
- Fluency in English (spoken and written)
- Valid UK Driving Licence (Mandatory)
- Willingness to work on the road and in various environments
- Legal right to work in the United Kingdom (visa sponsorship offered)
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical terminology for effective communication with healthcare professionals
- First Aid Certification (preferred but not required)
- Prior experience in:
- Home care
- Hospice care
- Assisted living
- Nursing homes
- Medication handling and documentation
- Familiarity with safeguarding and risk management principles
