Introduction

CYKA Group is seeking an experienced Packhouse Production Assistant to join our dedicated team. Located at our KCB Building in the Industrial Area, Kenya, this role is essential in supporting our packhouse operations to ensure that fresh produce meets the highest standards of quality before distribution. This position offers hands-on engagement with production processes and provides opportunities for personal and professional growth within the agricultural industry.

Key Responsibilities

As the Packhouse Production Assistant, you will:

• Supervise and coordinate activities of workers involved in the receiving, grading, and storage of fruits and vegetables.
• Train employees on grading and packing procedures, adhering to customers’ specifications.
• Inspect storage areas to maintain the freshness of produce and designate items for packing and removal as needed.
• Monitor packaged goods to ensure compliance with customer quality standards.
• Direct icing procedures for loaded railroad cars or trucks to maintain the freshness of produce during transit.
• Supervise the preparation of packing crates and boxes, specifically overseeing packing processes for produce such as bananas, apples, citrus fruits, or potatoes.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the production environment.
• Identify training needs for production staff and organize training sessions to improve skills and knowledge.
• Monitor productivity rates and quality of products, implementing quality control programs to maintain standards.
• Work closely with managers to enforce the company’s policies and goals, aligning production activities with company objectives.
• Collaborate with other supervisors and teams to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
• Prepare production reports to present to upper management, detailing productivity metrics and operational insights.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues that could delay production, ensuring smooth operations at all times.
• Adapt to additional duties assigned by management, contributing to overall packhouse success.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Diploma or Degree in Business Management or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing or packhouse environment, with a proven record in supervisory roles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage team dynamics effectively.
• Proficiency in report writing and effective planning to streamline packhouse processes.
• Self-motivation and problem-solving abilities to address challenges promptly.
